The 2014 KZN Funding Fair

The KZN Funding Fair took place on 9 and 10 April 2014 at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban. It provides a platform for the facilitation of face-to-face interaction between entrepreneurs and various funding institutions.

Cobus Oelofse – Chief Executive Officer of the iLembe Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Tourism presented on the Benefits of Chambers to Business in one of the Educational sessions held throughout both days by Deloitte specialists and external guest speakers.

Aspects of the KZN Funding Fair includes:

Project pitches: Project submissions were opened to all project promoters/entrepreneurs who have a project for which they require funding. Projects were required to meet the Terms and Conditions in order to be considered for selection. Prior to the event, pre-selected project promoters/entrepreneurs were coached by the Deloitte Corporate Finance team on how to deliver a pitch. Pitchers were given a time allocation in which to pitch their business plans to a group of funding representatives. A total of 35 projects were pitched and 41 meetings were scheduled for Day 2 of the fair between project promoters and interested funding institutions.

Exhibition: Each Funding institution had the opportunity to set up an exhibition stand. This allowed the funding bodies to promote their business as well connect with other attendees at the Funding Fair.
